Pre-Construction
Utility Line Project
Huntington, West Virginia
10-12-23

On this particular day, we headed down to Huntington, West Virginia to record the pre construction conditions of an impending utility project between 5th and 9th streets. We recorded the construction video in both directions, from 5th to 9th and again, focusing on the opposing shoulder and abutments from 9th to 5th.

The documentation of accurate utility video is extremely important because there are dozens of variables and details that can affect both the duration and scope of said project. We accomplish our survey through multidirectional video, shot both from a well-marked and speed-controlled construction vehicle and on foot with the aid of a gimbal. The elevated view from the vehicle provides a wider angle of the standout details on the project route, while the handheld camera work focuses more intently on the aforementioned details.

Any aberrations or defects of the sidewalks, drainage systems, concurrent utility lines, crosswalks, roadways and personal or commercial property structures are noted via live narration. Our videographers are equipped with state-of-the-art microphone systems to capture clean and concise narration for the project manager.

Our vehicle-driven shots are captured with the aid of a two-person crew. One team member focuses exclusively on the operation of the construction-marked vehicle, while the other operates the external camera and systems. We take safety VERY seriously. In fact, it’s our highest priority. Our team members are OSHA-10 certified and we enjoy the opportunity to coordinate with our clients to produce their own Training and Safety Orientation Videos.

Our cameras, camera systems and microphones are top of the line and not just because we’re tech geeks! Maintaining industry standard equipment allows us to capture the best possible video of your pre construction, construction or utility line project. We also employ two FAA-certified drone pilots to capture dynamic aerial video when needed.

In the run up to a job, we like to keep an eye on the weather to make sure our video survey is as accurate as possible. Good lighting and low to no precipitation make that more likely. On the day of, we like to contact the project manager to double check that all relevant footage on the pathway is visualized accurately. Once we return to our editing studio, we complete the project by checking the project info for accuracy of date recorded, direction of travel, geographic location and other invaluable data. After completion, the project coordinator receives both a digital and hard copy, via USB drive, of the finished product.
